Xbox Game Pass users were only limited to PC and Xbox. However, PlayStation fans had to miss out on exclusive games. Now, this is changing. Xbox is ending platform exclusivity and is going to bring its first-party games on all platforms at launch. This is not just limited to new titles, but games like Halo MCC and Microsoft Flight Simulator are also making their way to the PlayStation 5 console.
In an interview with Phil Spencer, CEO of Xbox recently told the media in an interview that Xbox is primarily focused on making the console the primary differentiator. At the same time, people choose a platform and will continue to shape game passes as a primary way for people to play games. Phil also added that blocking a game from releasing on other platforms is simply a missed business opportunity, and does not want to restrict games to a single platform.
Therefore it is safe to assume that similiar to the successes that PlayStation had by offering its then-exclusive titles to PC has brought them a major revenue boost with only a few fumbling those expectations. Following this trajectory, Xbox already had their games on the PC, but will now also allow developers to release on PlayStation.
